Wine Racks or Wine Cellar
by Michael Brown
Figuring out which you need can be done in a few easy steps. First how many bottles of wine are you going to store? Then how quickly do you drink wine you are storing? Lets start with these two questions to begin with. Decide how many bottles you will be collecting and plan for the future.
If you currently have 25 bottles of wine in your small collection but hope to add 10-20 bottles of wine a month don’t go small. Always plan out what you’ll need and go larger. Nothing is more troubling for me than having wine strewn about the floor while I decide my next move while tripping over wine trying to install the new wine racks when I should have had them to begin with. So if you need a 100 bottle rack go for the 175 bottle rack. Buy new racks well before you fill the old ones up. Figure in how quickly you drink the wine. If you drink it fast then large scale racks might not be the way to go. If you drink it slowly larger sturdier racks may be for you. Other options to consider for your wine collection include a wine room. If you have a wine room then the solution is simple; add your wine racks to your wine room. Although make sure the wine room has a proper cooling system and is out of the sun light; cool wine lasts longer. If you don’t have a wine room but want to store wine for a prolonged period I suggest a wine cellar.
Wine cellars are really not that expensive for what they provide you with. They not only provide racks already installed but they also provide cooling and prolonged storage capability. The cooling unit inside of a wine cellar keeps wine stored at the best possible setting for as many years as you need. You control your wines settings and temperature. All said and done you decide what is best for your and your collection. If you only collect a few bottles and only keep them for a couple of years before consumption then a plain or decorative 30 bottle rack will do what you need. Also small amounts like that will not require cooling as long as your plan is to store them for short amounts of time at room temperature and away from the sun.

Impact of Media on Learning
by Bipasha
Media has opened new dimensions in learning. Now education is no longer a constraint for anyone. Media has brought education to the doorstep of each and every individual. All forms of media- the newspaper, radio, television and the internet are equally important in imparting education. As the technology is progressing, the different educational modules are being channeled through certain community access centers like community radio system, televisions, internet, community multi-media centers etc. Media literacy or education does not only mean to be entertained by media but to learn something from it. As a major part of the learning process is concentrated on children, media plays a significant role to satisfy their intellectual curiosity. Children often learn important things through the media, which change their perspective to life. Moreover, radio has now started to enter into the educational sector commonly known as Community Radio System, which indirectly forms the part of e-learning process. Computer-based education has transformed the traditional offerings of distance learning. This medium of education converts the traditional static resources into interactive and interesting online modules for the learners. The primary motive of the Interactive Learning Modules is to create modular interactive learning materials for the development of education and to demonstrate their effectiveness in university curricula as well as industrial training programs. Interactive Learning Modules, which is another form of media, serves the purpose of both the technical and management corporate trainee people along with the people with learning disabilities. The main aim of this article is to focus on the positive effects of media on learning and how different forms of media have contributed to the development of mankind.

Caring for Long Stem Roses
by Ken Austin
Since the first discovered Hybrid Tea in 1867, there has been an explosion leading to thousands of long stem varieties coming in virtually every color except for blue or black. These long stem roses tend to flower continuously and can grow 2-6 feet tall. High susceptibility to disease and less fragrant smell, when compared to other types of roses, is often attributed to the great deal of inbreeding that has taken place to achieve the attractiveness of long stem roses.
Keep your long stem roses growing tall
When planting your long stem roses, be sure to select an area where they will get 6 hours of sunlight and good air circulation.
Do hard pruning in the late winter or early spring just as new growth begins. Remove old damaged canes from the center to let in fresh air and sunlight, leaving the thick healthy ones forming a circle on the outside. Cut the remaining stems to 12-24 inches and fertilize in a few weeks time.
To protect during harsh winters, tie the canes together and mound with soil. Surround the mound with insulating materials such as leaves or straw and shelter with a cylinder, perforated with breathing holes.
Adopt a regular spray program to protect the roses and their leaves from disease.
And
, don’t forget to give your long stem roses lots of water!

German Nutcrackers in the USA
by Benz
Nutcrackers have been admired for more than 300 years. Beginning in Germany, nutcrackers were not actually a popular collector’s item in the United States until the 1950s. As many military men were in Germany during World War II they began visiting open markets in which they found the whimsical hand carved nutcrackers. The nutcracker was originally believed to protect from the evil. When the soldiers returned home after the war they brought with them a figure of power and protection for their families in the nutcrackers that they had discovered. Once the German nutcrackers caught on, it was difficult to stop their rising popularity.
Today there are plenty of homes that have nutcrackers with them. The Nutcracker Suite ballet of 1892 has helped tremendously to increase the popularity of nutcracker collecting. The magic and mystery of the ballet has been a strong fuel for those who believed that nutcrackers have powers of protection.
The very first nutcrackers were made in The Erzgebirge and were in the form of kings and soldiers.
The first workshop to craft nutcrackers had been the workshop of the Fuechtner family in the heart of the German Erzgebirge.
Today more than 100 workshops in the Erzgebirge make nutcrackers. Most of them make the classical Kings and Soldiers. The manufacturers Steinbach Marienberg and Christian Ulbricht have specialized in more modern designs. They started to create nutcrackers of American Presidents and many other famous people such as Pope Benedikt, Sherlock Holmes, King Cole and Albert Einstein. Together both manufacturers make about 400 different nutcrackers at the moment.
Particularly Herr Steinbach altered the traditional look and images of nutcrackers and brought them in an entirely new form. German folklore and legend features were added to the collection and now there are nutcrackers of every shape and form. In the United States alone there are millions of German nutcrackers who have found a shelter. Some nutcracker collectors own more than 1000 pieces.
During the Christmas holiday, nutcrackers are displayed as decoration and there are people who simply leave them on display for collective purposes. What began in Germany almost 300 hundreds years back has now grown to be a collector’s item that encompasses the entire world. Today nutcrackers are one of the highly popular and sought after collector’s items. Their whimsical ex-pressions and their tradition of bringing protection and good luck to their owners, it is a safe assumption that their popularity will stay for quite some time.

Holocaust Facts - A Short History
by Alphonso Sirtle…
The Holocaust is one of the bloodiest events that took place in worlds recent history. When Hitler seized power in Germany in 1933, a reign of terror and ethnic cleansing had begun. Until the end of the World War II, in 1945, one of three Jews living in that era were murdered by the Nazi regime and other people from different countries suffered greatly as well.
Certain circumstances led to Hilters rise to power in 1933. As soon as he got hold of total power in Germany, Hilter begun his policy of frightening and getting out of the way any opponents of the regime. He used a well organized military force to make his plans reality. The first concentration camp, Dachau, was founded near Munich and it served as a place for exterminating Jews.
By using demagogy and blaming Jews for corrupting the Arian race in Germany, Hilter launched his real terror just one year after rising to power. Many Jews left and hid in other countries to get away from Nazis.
The rest of the world reacted slowly to Hitlers action. A reunion held in 1938 at Evian, in France, where representatives of many countries started talking about the problems caused by Hilters policy of exterminating the Jews, proved of no use. Hilter became more bolder and intensified his purging actions.
Trustful in his own power, the Nazi dictator ordered the invasion of Poland in the autumn of 1939. He hunted every Jew in Poland and he gathered them in ghettos, where many people died of hunger and diseases.
The thirst for vital space and power led Hilter to launch the attack against the Soviet Union. The policy of extermination continued in full force with mass executions that filled up common graves after another. In 1941, he began to apply the Final Solution to finish off the Jews and other people that were against his regime and he built up more death camps to serve this purpose.
Many prisoners were held in the concentration camps and overworked until they died. The persons unable to work were simply killed. Millions of people died of horrible deaths in these camps, while they helped unwillingly to the German effort of war.
During the whole duration of World War II, people died in concentration camps. The first concentration camp that was destroyed was Maidanek. This happened in 1944, when the Soviet Union gained terrain against the German forces. With Germany defeated, the concentration camps started to fall. One of the best known camps, Auschwitz, was liberated in January 1945.
Six millions Jews fell victims to Hilters atrocious policy of keeping the Arian race pure. Only 200,000 people survived the harsh, non humanly conditions in the concentration camps. This is how the Holocaust is remembered today and it remained in history.

Ein Große Bestimmungsörter (A Great Destination): Getting Discount Airfare To Germany
by Roland Parris Jefferson III
beautiful and exotic places to vacation, more and more people are clamoring for Europe. There is so much history and beauty; it is no wonder many airlines and travel companies have been offering discount airfares to Germany, France, Spain, and other European countries.
Germany is one of the oldest countries in the world, dating back before the formation of the Holy Roman Empire when the Germanic tribes ruled the lands. Majestic castles an stately manor houses remind tourists of a time when knights and chivalry were not just words. The artwork, whether painted or sewn in the form of tapestries has captured that age so pristinely. Today vacationers can visit museums and tour some of the more elegant estates. Finding discount airfares to Germany means more in the budget for hotels and other extra perks.
Break Out The Polka And Smelly Cheese
Before you decide to purchase your discount airfare to Germany through an online travel web site like Orbitz or Expedia, consider checking out the airline’s web page that you intended to fly. Continental and U.S. Airways offer weekly, and even monthly specials on airfare across the country and the globe. You would be surprised how low their specials can go; offering passage to such places as the Caribbean, The Orient, and Europe for only a few dollars. Discount airfare to Germany may be easier to find than your car keys on any given day. And you will have much better stories to tell all of your friends, not including all of the pictures.
There are plenty of travel web sites in the sea, so to speak. And the majority of them are advertising vacation packages for almost pennies. Is this a good thing? Can you trust what you read, or should it have an oiled up “used car salesman” vibe to it? It can be quite a responsibility to plan an exciting, full of memories vacation for you and your family. And there is much more to remember to take care of than just finding discount airfare to Germany. Finding what you need quickly and easily makes each step of the planning process that much less stressful. Find out if the web site you are thinking of purchasing through has a customer service center, with both an email address and phone number. Sometimes it helps to be able to talk to a live person versus an electronic letter.

How Core Vocabulary Applies in Germany Foreign Language Training
by Deon Melchior
Learning the rules in Fremdsprache-Training, or foreign language training is helpful, especially if you intend to visit Germany. Don’t be the one visiting Germany with mistaken communication in speaking foreign language, since some German’s will take offense. Learning a new language is always fun, especially when you learn to speak the languages correctly.
In this instance, we can discuss German core vocabularies to help you get the most out of foreign language training.
In German, it is important that the language have strong verbs. Some of the strong verbs used in Germany are fahren - fahrt and fuhr. The infinitive outlines 3rd- person singular verbs in the “simply past tense” form. When vowels have stem change, thus this is when the third-person singulars apply. For instance, if you are to say, “to resemble,” in Germany, you would say ähneln and to end you would say beenden. To offer to help someone in Germany you would say, kann ich helfe Ihnen.
How do I learn how to use proper present-tense forms in speaking words with verbs in German. Your best bet is to become familiar with verbs, past tense verbs, simple past tense, present, and so on, as well as the core vocabulary. You can find guides that offer you instructions for learning German languages, or buy audiovisuals, CDs and so on online that will offer you guides in learning foreign languages, such as German.
For now, we can do a few exercises to test your skills.
Wir, is interpreted in German in some instances, as we. Now if you were to say we come to dinner in prerequisites, with present tense and verb conjugations you would say it as Er Dommt zum abendessen. Wir dommen zum abendessen: Du kommst zum abendessen, or in English It Dommt with dinner: We dommen with dinner. You come with dinner. The proper method to say we come to dinner is, wir kommen zum Abendessen.
To learn to speak German effectively, you will need to learn the basics in the foreign structure. Having an explanation can help.
How to interpret German elements:
Grammar for instance, in Germany is separated into smaller units and managed in a way that it correlates. To learn German effectively you will need to learn the divisions in the language and then learn the core vocabulary, take short lesions and answer questions when applied. You will need detailed lessons to help you clearly state what you want to say and the purpose, as well as the prerequisites in your knowledge. You will need to summarize grammar so that you can retain German grammar effectively. You will also need to use extensive training tools to draw your conclusions.
In addition, you want to learn how to summarize German vocabulary, use a dictionary and create a inclusive catalog of strong verbs and how they apply. Once you overcome the basics in speaking German the rest is a downhill travel.
Some of the basic words used in Germany are den, des, die, durch, etc. Now, take time to review the common German word usage. Den: Take this German word and make it into a sentence. To English speakers den means an area in the home, yet in German language it means “that.” You can now create an active sentence using the German den. “We see den America was crying for help.”
Next, des: means ‘of the how many des American’s cried for help den we could see.
Die, or those: How many of die American’s den we could see des the many cried for help.
Durch, or through: We seen durch the American’s den cried for help, and des the many we could not help.
Now if you were to continue learning the basics, you could in time, put a complete sentence in German together so that any German native could relate.

Germany’s Bid For Solar Excellence Scuppered By Upstart Geothermal?
In 1991, a quiet but effective revolution began in Germany. It consisted of 5 paragraphs and didn’t even provide any future promises (or funding), but it gave something to the average citizen that he didn’t have before…commercial access to the grid. The law was entitled Stromeinspeisungsgesetz (commonly known in the U.S. as the Energy Feed-in Law). From 1991, all suppliers of electricity, including private citizens, were granted access to the electrical grid and, by law, would be compensated at an unprecedented premium for all energy sent into the network. By far, the highest commissions were paid to the suppliers of solar power, starting a race to go solar in Deutschland.
The law was revised in 2000 and now called the Renewable Energy Sources Act to include energy supplied by geothermal derivations such as geysers, natural steam, geopressurized reservoirs, etc. Perhaps not something the average person has access to, but certainly of interest on a corporate level. Ironically, most geothermal energy is not very “renewable” as it is mined faster that it can regenerate, but it is clean and efficient. There is no mistaking that this addition was added, in fact, to attract new business to the clean energy market. More importantly, the 2000 version set a time frame for new investors to 20 years. What that achieved was the insurance and reassurance that people needed before such a huge commitment to their individual projects. On the negative side, the 20 years came with decreased tariffs over time. Why decrease the tariffs? Simply put, the government had set a ceiling of 5 by 2010 and enable green electricity to become 10 of total energy was green energy.
In keeping with the EU’s standard of “frequent performance review,” the law was once again revised in 2004. This time, no great name change. It became the 2004 Renewable Energy Sources Act. Since reaching goals set in 2000 so early, this revision raises to bar to 27 in 2009 and 2010 and then 9 reduction in compensation in 2009 and 2010 (a decrease of 3.5%). Wind energy promotion is the focus of the latest revisions set forth by the governing body. So, is wind the new King of Renewables? Solar power is perhaps less heavily promoted than in the past, but one must see that as a sign of success of the program. Falling subsidies indicate that the industry is healthy and has less need for gross promotion. Is wind the next “big thing” in Germany? Don’t count out geothermals just yet. Although the “renewability” of geothermal power is in debate, geothermal drilling goes on and was given an early boost in 2000 and further support in 2004. There are currently 150 geothermal plants in the development stage held back at the moment due to the cost of the drilling equipment necessary. Not to be daunted, German manufacturing plants are expanding drill production for the sector. Six geothermal plants are in the process of opening this year (2009) and into 2010.
So, what does this mean for the rest of us? Well, look at it this way. A country with relatively moderate sun exposure and no volcanic activity in 7,500 years is actually a leader in producing solar power and geothermal energy. To say that Germany is inspiring is a vast understatement. If the U.S. made a serious attempt to duplicate Germany’s success, the impact on the environment would be staggering. U.S. representative Jay Inslee from Washington state introduced the Renewable Energy Jobs and Security Act in June of 2008, but it stalled. On a brighter note, Gainesville, FL just passed a law (March 2009) to compensate providers of solar electricity at a premium rate through net metering. City officials passed this bill unanimously after studying the success in Germany. Hawaii isn’t far behind and will likely have a similar plan in effect by the end of the year. I think that this is how we are going to achieve results in the U.S.: one state at a time until the job is done.

Tasmania Bedevils Tourists To An Australia Vacation
by Phoenix Delray
Many regions of Tasmania entice visitors coming for an Australia vacation.

The city by the Derwent River and sea offers views of Mount Nelson and Mount Wellington. The suburban areas and estuary surround Storm Bay. Tasmanias past of convicts and chains are 100 years reserved as close by are the vineyards and wineries of the Coal River Valley, the home very superb cool climate wines. Explore farther away from Hobart, but return to unwind, relax and awaken rejuvenated.
The Tasman Peninsula offers a land of farms, forests, dolerite cliffs, and sweeping views across the Tasman Sea. Do not forget, it is also the place of the worlds most historic prison. As you travel past the Hobart Airport, you can look out at Barilla Bay, where the oysters beds that produce the succulent oysters are served up on the half shell.
In the historic town of Sorell, enter into a land of scenery, wildlife, heritage and adventure. At Copping you will find many vineyards and cafes selling local delicacies such as octopus, oysters, quail and venison. The area offers you a number of choices: take some short or multi-day walks in the Tasman National Park, with its sweeping beaches and forest walks beside 300 meter sea cliffs, or head to Port Arthur Historic Site.
King Island lies northwest of Tasmania in the path of the Roaring Forties, the ever-present westerly winds that circle the worlds southern latitudes. This is the site of the Australias worst maritime disaster, which occurred in 1845 when the Cataraqui grounded.
The Cape Wickham lighthouse, the tallest lighthouse in the southern hemispheres is a constant reminder of the danger of maritime travel in the area. It is an island of long, empty beaches and clean, fresh air, of offshore reefs, rocky coasts, dairy farms, lighthouses and shipwrecks. It is best known for award winning creamy cheeses, succulent beef produced on lush pastures, and freshest seafood. Islanders gather bull kelp that is tossed ashore by storms, cray fisherman and divers harvest abalone in rich schools beneath the ocean surface. Fertile farmlands yield beef and diary cattle surrounded by tree hedges.
The lush grass is the secret ingredient to the local bovine, rich cream and the many hand made cheeses. Wallabies and peacocks are abundant especially at night so be careful not to collide. Keep in mind you might see albatrosses or sea eagles floating in the updrafts. Also go to Reid Rocks which is home to a substantial breeding colony of Australian fur seals. King Island is home to both native and exotic wildlife.
